"A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words"
Our office is proud to offer the latest technology in digital retinal diagnostic testing. Retinal photography has been in use for many years by some of the largest retinal clinics and hospitals & has been available through our office for the past 3 years. The process is all digitalized and provides us a photographic record of the major internal structures of your eyes, pictures are saved to a hard drive with the patient's data and are retrieved at each comprehensive exam visit.
After taking the photos, the doctor is better able to detect any changes in the retina. This allows him to recommend treatment that may actually prevent vision loss.
The retinal camera gives advantages over examining the retina with the direct ophthalmoscope.
- A wider, complete and more detailed view.
- The best documentation of the retina.
- Virtually the only way many subtle changes can be compared accurately for early diagnosis of eye disease.
Retinal photos can assist in early detection of retinal problems like retinal detachment, holes or thinning, optic nerve disease, pre-cancerous lesions,
macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma changes and others.
Photos are taken at every eye health and vision examination for best comparison of findings. There are no additional charges for this testing and is included with your comprehensive exam.
